The client specifically requests a modern and neutral impression, which doesn’t distract too much from the actual heroes of the space – the animals. Monochromatic and minimal materiality – such as black matte steel, light grey plaster and Polysafe Palettone Polyflor – was chosen to complement the aesthetical, economical and sanitary requirements. A selection of furniture designed by Afteroom binds it all together and softens the masculinity of the space and makes for an inclusive and inviting space where both people and animals can feel safe.

Sydney Dogs & Cats Home is a complete site redevelopment of both architecture and spatial designs. The organisation is relocating to Kurnell and in need of help, developing a design concept which is complementing the brand ethos. The proposal includes development of all customer facing areas – i.e. entry, reception and waiting area.
