Folkungagatan 101 is a real-life renovation project on a budget. The apartment consists of 29 sqm and the project will run over 12 months. The purpose of the renovation is mainly to create a new floor plan which will accommodate for a more permanent living solution, but also to freshen up the interiors and generate an inviting atmosphere.

The concept of the design is to create a social floorplan which also offers semi-privacy. A customable dividing wall is therefore designed to separate the living area from the sleeping area, while still allowing natural light to travel between the spaces. to allow for more storage and convenient amenities. To create an even more inclusive spatial design, the generous sized balcony is divided into two separate seating areas – accommodating for both dining and social gatherings.

Because the studio is facing north in the Nordic hemisphere – the materiality and furniture fittings are selected to generate warmth and inclusiveness, as well as light into the interiors. Different textures – such as timber, rattan and fabrics - are therefore complemented with a retro furniture selection - including traditional Thonet no 18 café chairs - to create a sense of familiarity and invitingness.
